I have decided to tell my experience with Bridger seeing as I haven’t even given a life update about him yet and he is already almost 2 years old! It was such a completely different experience for me and so much more positive. Bridger’s pregnancy was honestly ten times better than Joseph’s, and the birth was so much better as well.
Finding Out
I actually found out I was pregnant with Bridger June 11, 2020 which is actually my birthday. On my birthday we decided to go up to Bear Lake and get a raspberry shake and home cut fries, but before driving up there we went to Walmart for some reason I can’t remember. At the checkout line I saw the jerky sticks and just had to have one so I put one on the check stand and Logan just looked at me and was like, “I am going to go get you a pregnancy test.”
We went up to Bear Lake after that and had a grand old time sharing our ice cream with JJ and showing him all of the fun little places there. Once we got back home Logan immediately tells me to go take the pregnancy test, which I did, and it was immediately the darkest line indicating pregnancy, like I didn’t even have to wait three minutes for the line to show up. It was a wonderful surprise! Honestly I had been wondering for a couple days beforehand if I was pregnant because everything I did was exhausting. I had been running and doing HIIT workouts and it had been getting really difficult for me to even work out for like 10 minutes even though I was in fantastic shape, I was feeling off too, not like you do when you have PMS. I am glad I waited to take the test til my birthday so that I could have an extra birthday present.
First Trimester
My first trimester went through the summer so it wasn’t too bad. I did get really morning sick, but compared to Joseph’s pregnancy I felt so much better. I was also working out which helped tremendously. I definitely had to stop doing the major workouts I was doing and find a pregnancy workout or do yoga, but I was staying active.
In August, I got this really weird infection in my right arm that my doctor put me on antibiotics for to get it to go away. Unfortunately I dealt with it for the second half of my pregnancy which was not fun but I wasn’t super sick so I took it as a win.
Second Trimester
My second trimester was a breeze. I stopped having morning sickness around 16 weeks and had so much more energy. I had to wear a compression band on my arm to help with the infection in my arm, and also had to take antibiotics for the majority of my second trimester. It kind of really killed my gut in the long run, but made the infection go away. To this day my doctor has no idea what was happening in my arm to cause such a weird infection.
Third Trimester
My Third trimester caused my morning sickness to come back, but only if I got too hungry. I ate all the time, and took little snacks with me everywhere. I started to really grow and actually started looking pregnant. I started to lose my energy really fast so keeping up with JJ was hard as heck seeing as he is like the energizer bunny and bounces off the walls at all times of the day.
Birth
We decided to get induced at week 39 like we did with JJ. This go around was a lot smoother. We went in at 1 pm and I gave birth to sweet little Bridger Boyce at 6:50 pm. The labor wasn’t as intense because I got the epidural earlier on than I did with JJ, however the epidural didn’t work on my right side until I started pushing so I felt the labor on my right side completely. That was the only sucky part because I couldn’t stand up and try to work through the contractions I was stuck in the bed on my side and the contractions were pretty intense. Once I started pushing, my doctor immediately came to deliver the baby and was there within 10 minutes of the nurses calling him. I was so grateful in that moment that I had switched OBGYNs because the labor was that much more smooth. Bridger came out a perfect little angel screaming with great lung power. This time, I got to have the two hours of recovery with my sweet little angel boy and immediately start breastfeeding which I think is why he was such a wonderful little eater. This labor totally redeemed my first labor and healed my heart in a way that I didn’t know needed to be healed.

Bridger has been a dream of a little boy and my favorite little pal. He is so sweet, sensitive, loving and snuggly. We absolutely adore him and are so grateful for his presence in our home and family.
